Senior Accountant - Calgary, AB

Job description


The Senior Accountant will have strong analytical, technology, communication and organizational skills. This position generally requires at least two to three years of experience in accounting or finance, and public accounting experience is highly valued


  • Full cycle accounting includes performing the month-end closing procedures in a timely manner with accuracy and preparing the monthly financial statements, management reporting package, as well as variance analysis
  • Assist with annual budgeting and forecasting
  • Assist with annual year-end engagements including financial audit & corporate tax return
  • Inventory and capital asset reconciliations, freight adjustment, obsolescence adjustment/review, and inventory control reporting
  • Oversight and responsibility for the bank reconciliations, via the preparation of the same
  • Preparation and filing on time of all other financial reporting to various companies and agencies (Insurance, Statistics Can, etc.)
  • Conducts the insurance and surety bond activities of the company
  • ROU Asset (ASC 842) and Property Lease accrual / Entries/payments to Vendors
  • Territory Manager Reporting (Weekly and Sales Tracking)


  • Education and Experience
  • University Bachelor Degree
  • CPA Designation (or within 1 year of achievement)
  • 2-3 Years of Progressive Accounting experience
  • Advanced Excel Skills
  • Excel Macro design and creation is an asset
  • Exposure to CSOX controls and design is an asset
  • Subject to Criminal Background Checks and must have a clean record
