Shipper / Receiver - Lethbridge

The Bolt Supply House Ltd was founded in 1948 by a local Calgary, Alberta couple and operated as a small family business supplying nuts and bolts in Calgary and area until 1962 when we opened our first branch in Regina, Saskatchewan. Since 1962 we have added another 12 locations for a total of 14 locations in Alberta, Saskatchewan, British Columbia and Manitoba.

The shipper receiver will increase operational efficiency and company profitability by accurately and timely processing the incoming and outgoing shipments. The shipper receiver will take on the responsibility to clearly identify and/or label all incoming/outgoing products.


Receiving Duties

  • Receive incoming shipment and receive products and inventory in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Receiving materials in a safe manner, log into inventory and maintain inventory through audits
  • Take on the responsibility so that all incoming products are clearly identified and/or labelled
  • Check incoming freight for damage and process according to company’s policy
  • Move incoming shipments to put-away zones in an efficient manner
  • Schedule incoming shipments to ensure efficiency during the delivery process
  • Notify Purchasing Department of all receiving discrepancies

Shipping Duties

  • Pulling, filling, packing and setting up orders for delivery or pick up

Inventory Duties

  • Ability to operate a forklift safely and efficiently
  • Assist in the scheduled physical inventory counts

Responsibility and Decision-Making Authority:

You are empowered to make decisions within the scope of your role using sound decision making and utilizing your colleagues and supervisor(s) whenever you are unsure of a decision.

Working Hours:

  • Usual hours are 8:00am to 5:00 pm and may require working some overtime. However, a variant of an 8-hour day, in a full-time position, may occur. EX: 7:00am to 4:00pm.

Working Environment:

  • Work usually performed in a warehouse setting

Tools and Equipment Used:

  • Hand Tools and warehouse equipment
  • Ability to operate a forklift safely and efficiently
  • Personal computer, e-mail, cell phone, copier, fax, phone, and other standard office equipment

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma preferred

  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds on a regular basis (product).
  • Ability to spend extended periods of time standing
  • Digital dexterity and hand/eye coordination for branch equipment
  • Body motor skills sufficient to enable incumbent to move from customer location to another customer location or branch location
